Frederick Dove from the BBC World Service programme Focus on Africa interviewed Yan St-Pierre on the liberation of the nearly 300 girls and women in the Sambisa Forest in Northern Nigeria. Clearly, their liberation, though, would seem to indicate the Nigerian military making progress against Boko Haram. So how should we now assess the strength of the Islamist insurgents?
Boko Haram is still a very strong organisation. One of the main things to understand with Boko Haram is that it is not one structure, it’s an amalgam of various groups and interests. (…)
