The Nigerian army is set to begin the trial of 15 officers and 82 soldiers on mutiny, desertion of duty and insubordination charges on Wednesday. They are expected to be court martialled in Abuja in connection with crimes that allegedly took place during the war on Boko Haram. Unlike Nigerian military courts that usually sit behind closed doors, this court martial is open to the public – and to the media. Analyst Yan St-Pierre, who’s with MOSECON in Berlin, nonetheless fears that their case will be a “huge” exercise in public relations. He spoke to RFI‘s Michel Arseneault.
