Mohammed Yusuf, journalist for VoA, asked Yan St-Pierre about Kenya’s purchase of eight APCs for the Kenyan police:
“It is a very good sign, I think, President Kenyatta and Kenyan government finally understanding that fighting a terrorist group like al-Shabab requires all parties be involved and not just any troops or military. It is a good sign the government is willing to invest more resources into other security outlets,”
St-Pierre also addressed the issue of command structure for counter-terrorism operations in Kenya:
“How is the chain of command set up? Now that needs to be defined very clearly and once that is defined, then the training needs to take place. It cannot be just on paper. Security forces need to understand that as soon as something happens this is how it works and how they can work together,”
